LOOKING TO TAKE advantage of Concord's new rules allowing backyard chicken coops? The Capital City Organic Gardeners are here to help.
The group will hold a "Chickens 101" workshop tomorrow from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The class will be held at the West Street Ward House, 41 West St., and a donation of $5 is suggested.
The Concord City Council in December gave the green light for a 21-month pilot program allowing residents to raise up to five hens (no roosters) at single-family homes, even if the property is less than an acre in size.
"We are offering this workshop to help Concord residents learn more about the amended ordinance and to also help people with information to get started," said Laura Morrison, the group's president, in an email.
